Some FAQ about Netherlands ETIAS:
Difference between Netherlands ETIAS and Netherlands Visa?
If you are not from the European Union or a country in the Schengen area, you must apply for ETIAS or obtain a Netherlands tourist visa before your trip. The travel authorization you need depends on your nationality.
Compared to the Netherlands visa application process, obtaining ETIAS is faster, easier and cheaper. ETIAS is valid for three years, which is much longer than the Dutch tourist visa validity. During these three years, you can travel to the Schengen area for up to 90 days in a 180-day period, whether you are traveling as a tourist, on business, for transportation, or for medical problems.
However, if you are from a country that is not eligible for ETIAS visa , such as India, Malaysia, Nigeria, or Indonesia, you will need to obtain a visa instead. One option would be a Schengen visa for the Netherlands; however, you should consider other visa types if you plan to stay longer for work or study.
Can I have multiple entries with Netherlands ETIAS?
Yes, you can exit, enter, and re-enter the country as many times as you want, unless you spend more than 90 days in the Schengen area at 6-month intervals.
Do I need to print ETIAS for the Netherlands?
We recommend that you print an ETIAS paper copy of the document and take it with you when you check in at the airport. However, this is definitely not necessary as it is electronically attached to your passport.
What happens when my passport date expires?
Your travel document will no longer be the valid date when your passport expires. When you get your fresh passport, apply for a new one.
Does an ETIAS visa guarantee entry into the Netherlands?
No, an ETIAS visa does not guarantee entry into the Netherlands: it only allows the holder to travel to the Schengen place. The final decision is taking by immigration officials at the border entry points.
Should minors apply for an ETIAS visa waiver for the Netherlands?
Yes, all citizens of eligible countries, regardless of their age, must apply for an ETIAS visa waiver for the Netherlands. It needs to submit a separate ETIAS form for children.
When will I receive a reply on my Netherlands ETIAS visa application?
Applicants are expected to receive a decision on their ETIAS Netherlands application within 24 to 48 hours of submission. However, some applications are expected to take longer to process up to 72 hours.
My flight plans have changed; how do I transfer my ETIAS visa to the Netherlands?
If the applicant changes their flight schedules, it will only affect the validity of ETIAS to the Netherlands if the member country of first-purpose entry into the Schengen area changes. In such a case, it is necessary to submit a new ETIAS application to continue traveling to the Schengen area.
