When you plan a vacation or a business trip, you must remember that visa and passport documents are as important as other details, such as booking our flight or lodging. If you’re considering flying to Canada, you’ve probably heard about the new migration requirement: the Electronic Travel Authorization.

Before traveling to Canada, travelers from all over the world should obtain the eTA. The Electronic Travel Authorization is a document that allows you to fly into Canada and travel freely within the country.

Easy Process to get Canada e Visa from the UK

In 2015, Canada implemented the Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), allowing eligible citizens to visit Canada by completing a simple online form before departure.

The eTA allows for multiple entries for business, tourism, or transit, with a maximum stay period of 6 months per entry. E visa Canada is valid for five years or until the expiration date of the associated passport, whichever comes first.

Do British need Canadian Electronic Travel Authorization?

Yes, British citizens need an eTA to enter Canada. On March 15, 2016, the Canada eTA became mandatory for British visitors to Canada. It was created in response to the need for increased border security. Before boarding a flight to Canada, British citizens should have their eTA in hand.

Obtaining a Canada eTA is simple and easy. You can apply for Canada eTA through Click2Visas. Click2visas service fee is less in the market. Please have your passport and a credit card on hand to make payments before completing the application.

Who needs eta Canada?

Four types of travelers,

1.      Travelers who require an eTA:

  • To travel to or transit via a Canadian airport, British and other visa-exempt foreign nationals must obtain an eTA. Passengers coming by bus, train, vehicle, cruise ship, or boat do not need an eTA.
  • To travel to or transit via a Canadian airport, lawful permanent residents of the United States must have an eTA. At check-in, they must present a valid Green Card as well as a valid passport.

2.      Travelers who may be eligible for an eTA include:

  • Nationals of certain visa-required countries may apply for a Canada eTA instead of a visitor visa to travel Canada. When arriving by boat, car, train, or cruise ship, these visitors must obtain a visitor visa.

3.      Travelers who are unable to apply for an eTA and must carry alternative identification:

  • All Canadian nationals need a  valid Canadian passport, including dual citizens. American-Canadians can travel with the valid US or Canadian passport.
  • Permanent residents of Canada must have a valid permanent resident travel document or permanent resident card.
  • Stateless individuals and Alien passport holders need a valid visa.

4.      Travelers are exempted from the eTA requirement.

  • Americans are exempt from the Canada Electronic Travel Authorization requirement but must carry proper ID.
  • You can see the complete list of eTA exemptions in the Click2visas widget.

What are the eTA requirements to travel to Canada?

  • One passport-sized photograph with a light-colored or white background.
  • A valid passport or travel document from the eligible country.
  • Passports/travel documents should be valid for at least six (6) months.
  • You must have a return flight ticket or an onward journey ticket.
  • Enough money to spend during your stay in Canada.

Canada eTA Validity:

The validity of the Canada eTA is five years. Once you get the Canada eTA, you can use it for the next five years.

After submitting the Canada eTA application, how long will it take to approve?

It is best to obtain an eTA for Canada before booking your flights.

The majority of applicants receive their eTA approval email within minutes.

However, some Canada eTA requests may take several days to process, and you may need to submit extra documents.

Check If your passport number is correct in your eTA:

Once your eTA has been approved, double-check that the passport number in your eTA approval email corresponds to the number in your passport. If they do not correspond, you must apply for a new eTA.

How to check Canada e Visa Status?

Within a few hours of receiving your ETA application, you will receive an email with the status of your application. If this is not the case, you can learn to confirm your status using a different approach here.

  • Visit the Canada eTA status check page.
  • Enter the Canada eTA application number, your passport number, passport issue date, expiry date, and passport country of issue.
  • Click ‘Check application status.’

You can see the status of the application on the next page.

When you check the status of your Canada Electronica Travel Authorization application or receive the email from Canadian authorities, you will receive one of three responses:

eTA Approved: The Canadian authorities have reviewed and approved your ETA application. As your Canada eTA is electronically linked to your passport, you can visit Canada with just your passport.

Pending: If you see this status, it means that Canadian immigration officers have not yet reviewed your application or that they are completing certain verification’s before responding. You will receive another email shortly informing you whether your application has been approved or denied.

Refused: If this is the status of your ETA application, it means that the information you provided when completing the online application form does not permit you to travel to Canada. In some cases, you may be able to continue your visit to Canada by submitting a traditional visa application to your Canadian embassy or consulate.

You may have additional eTA Canada questions. We’ve provided some eTA-related questions and answers below.

What should you bring to the airport?

When your Canada eTA is approved, it will be linked to the passport you used to apply for. When you check-in for your flight to Canada, you must show this passport. There is no need to print any particular documents.

The airline personnel will scan your passport to ensure you have a valid eTA. You will not be able to board your flight if you do not have one.

Do I need to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorization every time I visit Canada?

No. Once approved, your eTA is valid for five years or until the expiration of your passport, whichever comes first. You are free to visit Canada as many times as you want as long as your eTA is valid.

What if my eTA Canada is rejected?

When applying for travel authorizations online, your eTA may get denied in rare cases.

But don’t worry, Click2visas eTA specialists will make every effort to ensure that your application is correct before processing it to maximize your chances of approval.

Even with any valid travel authorization, you may still be denied entry into a country when you arrive at border control. Immigration officials have the authority to deny entry to any traveler they believe poses a threat, has a history of criminal offenses, or for other security reasons.

Does the minor require any extra documents to apply for a Canada e visa?

You do not require any additional documents, but we suggest you to take a photocopy of the minor’s birth certificate, which includes both parents’ or guardians’ full names, date of birth, and citizenship. Also, have the birth certificate translated into English.

Would I need to apply for an eTA in addition to a Canada visitor visa?

If you intend to visit Canada, you must have a valid Canada e visa or visitor visa.

The one you require is determined by:

Your nationality; the travel document type you will use to apply; the country that issued your travel document; and how you intend to travel to Canada.

You do not need to apply for an eTA if you already have a valid Canadian visitor visa, even if you are eligible for one. You can travel with your visa until it expires.

Apply for an initial work or study permit before traveling to Canada. You will automatically get a visa or an eTA once your work or study permit application is approved. You do not require to apply for an eTA or visa, nor do you need to pay any additional fees.

If Canada grants you a visa, they will insert it into your passport.

If Canada issues you an ETA, the letter of introduction will include your eTA number. Canada authorities will send you an Introduction letter once your study or work permit has been approved.
