What is ETIAS Portugal?
ETIAS stands – (European Travel Information and Authorization System). It is an e-system developed by the European Union to monitor visitors to countries where citizens don’t need a visa to enter Europe. It is connected to many international databases that can verify your identity in minutes.
Some travelers can stay in the area for up to 90 days without applying for Schengen visas. However, with the help of an ETIAS system, those who want to enter the EU can be tracked and potential national threats prevented.

One of the major changes that will follow Brexit is the length of time British visitors can stay in all Schengen areas without a visa. Now that Britain is outside the EU, British passport holders can stay for a maximum of 90 days for a period of 180 days.
UK passport holders can cross the EU border and stay anywhere in the Schengen area for up to 3 months using a valid passport.
ETIAS Portugal will make safer for UK Visitors:
ETIAS is being introduced to increase high security throughout the Schengen area. The new travel authorization allows European officials to anticipate visits from eligible countries without compromising visa-free status.
ETIAS automatically cross-checks applications against information stored in international security databases. Interpol, Schengen Information System (SIS), and Visa Information System (VIS) were consulted.
Individuals suspected to cause danger will be prevented from entering the Schengen area.
It is expected that in this stage, most ETIAS applications made by UK nationals will be approved. If nothing is flagged during the automation process, the ETIAS visa waiver will be granted immediately.
In the rare case of success in one of the databases, the application will be reviewed by the ETIAS Central and National Divisions before a decision is reached.
Only travel persons considered a current threat to the public would be blocked from entering. Holders of UK passports with criminal records should not be barred from applying for ETIAS.
Guards your Health:
ETIAS will protect public health. Individuals with certain infectious diseases may be prevented from crossing the border legally, thus reducing the chance of infection.
All this, from late 2022 on wards, British travelers will be able to visit their favorite overseas destinations with more peace of mind than ever before.

The interior of Portugal connects the dramatic northern mountain ranges with the vast rolling plains of the country’s scorching central regions. In the south, some of Europe’s best beaches have beautiful coves and warm, shallow waters. Throughout are stone-built villages, enchanting towns, and cosmopolitan cities, where historic castles and palaces, museums, and monasteries await exploration.
