Once you applied for an Irish passport or passport renewal, the Embassy/Consulate in Great Britain will conduct the initial review of your passport application. After the initial review, the passport office will send your application to HQ for processing.

Once the entitlement has been established, the passport service at HQ will record your status on the Irish passport tracking system. After that only, you can check the status of your Irish passport application on the online tracking system.

How to Track Irish Passport Status Online:

It is easy to track your new Irish passport or passport renewal application online. All you need is an application id to check the status.

  1. Visit the passport tracking system page.
  2. Enter your passport or passport renewal application id and click OK.

Application id is an 11-digit barcode number. You can find this barcode number in your application or on a postage receipt.

Your application status will be available on the next page. You can find the below details on the status page.

  • Target Issue Date: Please keep in mind that the target issue date is not guaranteed.
  • Application Received Date.
  • Status Bar that shows your application process.
  • Below the status bar, you can find the current status of your application, such as Application Received, Printing, and Dispatched.

The data is updated daily and reflects the current target turnaround times. If you have submitted an online application that requires documentation, the target Issue Date will not be displayed until the passport service has received all required supporting documentation.

Irish Passport Processing Time:

Passport online is the best choice to get your passport because it allows the Irish passport service to process your passport application more quickly.

Great Britain Passport Express resumed on July 19, 2021, but most applicants will have to wait much longer.

Adult Passport Renewals online: Passport renewal within ten working days.

Child Passport Renewal through Online: Passport service usually completes the process within 15 working days of receiving the supporting documents.

Currently, the passport office in London registers documents within three working days of receipt. It takes about ten minutes to verify and scan the guardianship consent into the system.

First Time Passport Application: First-time applications are complex and take more time to process. This is because passport service officials need to verify all documents submitted and ensure the applicant’s identity. It is more critical for children that they need to have the correct consent from all the guardians.

Currently, the London passport office registers within five working days of receipt. For first-time applicants, it takes five weeks to verify and scan supporting documents. Most passports are issued within eight weeks.

Passport Express in Great Britain: On July 19, 2021, the processing of paper-based applications such as Great Britain Passport Express resumed. The estimated turnaround time is eight weeks, but this is not a guarantee of service, and you should not reserve any flights until you have your passport.

If you require a passport quickly, please use the Passport Online Service. Moreover, the passport office cannot usually expedite a paper-based application.

No, two applications cannot exist in the system at the same time.
