What is the Brazil visa for US Citizens?

A visa is a foreign country pre-approval which allows you to travel to their country. U.S. people can fly to most countries without some form of paperwork, but some countries, such as Brazil, need a visa beforehand. The approved visa will be stamped into your passport after sending the necessary paperwork to the Brazilian Embassy within your jurisdiction. What are the documents required for Brazil visa for US Citizen?

General Requirements for Brazil visa for US Citizens, such as Business and Tourism:

Passport: 

Applicant must apply their current passport, which is signed. Visas are issued in a passport, so you need the original passport. Applicants must have a color copy of their passport details tab.

Photograph:

The applicant must send two (2) photos of the same color, passport-type. The pictures must be recent and should not necessarily be the same as for the passport itself. Please write the applicant’s first and last names in pencil on the back of the photographs.

• Passport photographers know the requirements, and they have special cameras that simultaneously shoot two identical photos. At most of the Post Offices, Mailboxes, Kinko’s, Etc, or similar locations, as well as local photograph store, you can have passport photos made. Photographs must satisfy the following requirements: 
• 2 inches X 2 inches 
• Pale background or white with a full face, front view.
• The pictures must have taken in the last six months. 
• If photos are digital, they should be printed at least 300 dpi, preferably 600 dpi. 
• Do not put on uniforms.

Travel proof: 

Applicants must request a computer-generated itinerary from a travel agency or online reservation tool (such as an e-confirmation or online reservation) showing departure from the US and arrival/departure for the destination. Note, if the charters manifest should suffice when traveling via private charter.

Residency certificate: 

Applicants must have a Notarized legible color copy of their driver’s license or ID provided by the State. If applicants do not have an ID provided by a State or have recently moved and have not modified their ID, applicants must also have a recent Notarized utility bill (sewer, water, electric).

Evidence of the Funds: 

Applicants must show a Notarized copy of their current monthly bank statement. The statement must clearly display the name of the claimant as to the account holder, the accounts balance, the statement date, and the month’s complete transaction record. The balance available during the visit could amount to more than 200 USD per day. For example, if you spend five days in the country, your statement should display a balance exceeding 1,000 USD.

Health/Medical Requirement: 

If the applicant has traveled to an endemic area like the ones mentioned below within the last 90 days, a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required.

Applicants under the age of 18: 

• Applicants under the age of 18 need some additional detailed criteria set out below (see additional notes below for inconsistencies in custody where applicable):
• If the passport of the applicant is not signed and/or if the applicant is too young to sign the passport, both parents should sign the passport with the specified relationship. For e.g., “Signature – Mother / Signature – Father.” At least one parent must do this, but both can do so.
• Applicants under the age of 18 can’t sign their application for a visa from Brazil. Instead, both parents must sign on the application in the signature box given. Both signatures should be kept within the signature enclosure.

• The claimant must submit an Initial one-color photocopy of the birth certificate for the child.
• The applicant must include a color photocopy of the passport or driver’s license of the parent. If the identification parent names do not match that of the birth certificate (due to change of legal name), the parent must include a copy of the documents for legal name change (such as court order or marriage certificate).
• The applicant must hold a Notarized copy of parental authorization (see link below). Please Note: For each parent, the form requires a separate notarization (this may be done by the same notary but one of each parent).
• Notice Concerning Custodial Discrepancies: If only one parent is listed on the birth certificate, only that parent must have documentation and signatures included. If the parent of the child is divorced or separated, both parents still must hold documents and original signatures/notarizations as applicable, unless one parent has full legal custody, in which case copies of the custodial agreement have to be included. A copy of a death certificate shall be included in the case of one parent being deceased. Copies of court orders or adoption decrees should suffice for other legal custody arrangements.

Business Cover Letter:

The applicant is expected to apply a US company’s NOTARIZED Business Cover Letter (BCL). The BCL must be an original, signed company letterhead document indicating the date, period, and intent of travel, specifying a contact and address at the host company and acknowledging the applicant’s moral and financial liability. It is crucial that the BCL contains a statement indicating that during a stay in Brazil, “no technical work, assistance or training” will be offered.

Inviting Letter:

The applicant must send a Letter of Invitation from the accepting party or organization in Brazil, written in Portuguese. The letter should introduce the applicant, outline the intent of the trip to Brazil, including the visit date, and be signed by an officer of the organization, including contact information.
