IMMIGRATION AND VISAS

Passport specification as per Kuwait visa requirement

All Travelers are expected to have a passport according to Kuwait visa requirement unless otherwise follows:

1. Travellers with a national identity card issued to citizens of Oman.

2. Travellers with an «Laissez Passer» issued by the United Nations

3. Travellers with a Seaman Book provided they are traveling on duty.

4. Travellers with travel documents issued to refugees and people without nationality or citizenship.

Document Validity based on Kuwait visa policy

The passport is the primary Kuwait visa requirement for travelers as per Kuwait Visa Policy. Passports and alternate documents, or all of them, should be valid upon entry.

Visa Issuance according to Kuwait visa policy

1. Until arrival: Tourists are kindly requested to contact Kuwait’s closest representation.

2. On arrival: A visa is issued, if necessary, against a fee of no more than KWD 5 to travelers staying for no more than three months (extension is possible) provided they are citizens of:

Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bhutan, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zeeland, Norway, Poland, Portugal, San Marin, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United States of America, Vatican City and Vietnam.

3. On arrival: A visa may be issued if necessary, against a fee of no more than KWD 5 to travelers staying for three months (Extension is possible) provided they have British passports regardless of endorsement concerning citizenship.

4. On arrival: A visa may be issued if necessary, against a fee of no more than KWD 5 to United Nations personnel staying for no more than three months (Extension is possible).

5. On arrival: A visa may be issued if necessary, against a fee of no more than KWD 5 to travelers staying for three months (Extension is possible) provided they have passports issued by Hong Kong (A Special Administrative Region of China).

6. On arrival: A visa may be issued if necessary, against a fee of no more than KWD 5 to travelers staying for three months (Extension is possible) provided they have diplomatic and service passports and are citizens of Turkey.

7. On arrival: A tourist visa may be issued if necessary, to travelers staying for no more than three months provided they are foreign residents of Gulf Cooperation Council member countries except for citizens of Iraq on condition that:

– They work in of the following professions: university teacher, pharmacist, manager, computer programmer, businessman, journalist, press and media staff, system analyst, doctor, lawyer, engineer, teacher, judge, consultant, pilot, public prosecutor, diplomat, owner or manager, or representative of commercial companies, university graduate; and

– They have passports. Yet, this does not apply to travelers with temporary passports or a ‘Laissez-Passer’; and

– They have residence permits in Gulf Cooperation Council member countries that are valid for more than six months from the date of travel to Kuwait; and

– They have return tickets.

Wives, children, and servants are allowed to enter provided they abide by such conditions.

8. On arrival: A visa may be issued if necessary, against a fee of no more than KWD 5 to travelers coming for vacation or leisure provided they are staying for no more than one month; have a sponsor in Kuwait, who holds the original visa, and have confirmation from the transporting carrier that the visa is available upon arrival.

Visa Exemptions according to Kuwait visa policy

All travelers must hold a visa except the following:

1. Citizens of Kuwait.

2. Citizens of Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.

3. Travellers with a permanent residence permit issued by Kuwait.

TWOV (Transit Without Visa) according to Kuwait visa policy

TWOV enables travelers to resume their journey to a third country within 8 hours on the same or first connexion aircraft, subject to the following conditions:

– They have tickets with bookings confirmed;

– Other required papers for their next trip; and

– They are not permitted to leave the area of transit.

However, in the case of flight continuation after 8 hours, travelers must be accommodated in the airport transit hotel.

a. Citizens of the United States of America traveling as government contact workers and continuing their trip to Iraq are exempted from the onward or return tickets term.

Additional information

1. Due to the outbreak of swine flu A (H1N1), all travelers arriving at Kuwait International Airport from the United States of America will be medically examined and must visit the clinic within 72 hours after the arrival. Travelers who fail to abide by such rules will be fined and may be imprisoned.

2. Travellers with a temporary residence permit issued by Kuwait will be denied entry. Only a permanent residence permit is a valid document for re-entry into Kuwait.

3. Travellers must have onward or return tickets except for Gulf Cooperation Council member countries’ citizens.

4. According to the purpose of entry, the form of the visa differs, as stated below:

a) A visit sponsored by a Kuwait resident: a form is issued in duplicate and validated by the Ministry of Interior;

b) A visit at the traveler’s own expense without a sponsor: a visit permit is issued in duplicate and can be obtained from a Kuwaiti consulate;

c) The Ministry of Interior issues a ‘No objection certificate.

d) In addition to their visa, workers need an endorsement issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs & Labour. It should be stamped by a Kuwaiti consulate or embassy located abroad.

Workers coming from countries with no diplomatic representation of Kuwait must have the second original copy of the visa issued by the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Interior in Kuwait.

Warnings

Travelers arriving in Kuwait without the documents or visas required for entry into or transit via Kuwait towards their final destination will be denied entry or transit. They will be returned on the same flight at the expense of the transporting carrier.

CUSTOMS AND FOREIGN EXCHANGE

Import regulations as per Kuwait visa policy

1. Travellers are allowed free import of two pounds of tobacco or 500 cigarettes.

2. Prohibited goods include alcoholic drinks and narcotics, opened milk products and salty fish, mineral water, olives and pickles not sealed by the original manufacturer, food made at home and fresh vegetables, and seashell having flesh and its products.

Export regulations as per Kuwait visa policy

Travelers are allowed to free export of cigarettes and tobacco products without restrictions.

Pets

1. Pets may be brought into Kuwait either as held luggage or as cargo so long as the traveler obtains prior permission from the General Directorate for Agricultural and Sea Wealth and carries a veterinary certificate of good health issued in the home country. The traveler must fill in two forms: one for the animal or bird’s declaration and its description.

2. Just falcons and pet birds (pigeons), incubating eggs, and one-day-old chicks from Italy, Albania, Malaysia, Jordan, the Palestinian Territory, Myanmar, Ukraine, Zimbabwe, and Thailand can be imported, subject to accordance with veterinary quarantine laws and regulations and regulations.

3. All pets transported into or into Kuwait International Airport, located at the Air Cargo Terminal Section, are quarantined. A customs tax equal to 4% value of the pets in the bill of lading should be collected according to circular no 41 of 1999 issued by the General Administration of Customs.
