Flights have now resumed to Ecuador.
A completed health form and a completed immigration form, as well as a negative PCR test for COVID-19 given within 10 days of arrival, must be submitted by travelers. Upon arrival, travelers without a qualifying test result will be checked.
If travelers with a valid test certificate arrive, they no longer need to reach the quarantine unless they have coronavirus symptoms. Those without one will be screened while awaiting results and before a negative test result is obtained and sent to quarantine.
For visitors visiting the Galapagos, unique “travel corridors” exist. A negative Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test for COVID-19, taken 96 hours prior to the departure date for Ecuador, must be submitted by foreigners wishing to access the islands. Tourists may be asked to take another PCR test, at their own cost, upon arrival in Ecuador. To be excluded from the 14 days of self-isolation on the islands, visitors must also request a return flight and a safe passage document (‘salvoconducto’) issued by the Tourism Ministry. Tour operators or hotels are responsible for arranging, on behalf of tourists, this safe passage document if visitors are expected to have prior travel and accommodation arrangements under contract. It is important to fill out the Galapagos Transit Control Card online at least 24 hours before the flight. You will be asked to complete a Declaration of Health Status, including a local address, upon arrival in Ecuador.
