Before Your Travel Plan to Kenya, Things should be known?


Travel Ban

Most overseas travellers are permitted to enter Kenya under some conditions. All passengers entering Kenya through any entry point must have a COVID-19 vaccination certificate. This requirement does not apply to travellers under eighteen (18).


Mandatory Covid Test

Regardless of the route of entry, all passengers arriving in Kenya must have a valid COVID-19 negative PCR test certificate obtained within 72 hours of departure. This test requirement does not apply to children under five (5).

There will be no paper verification of COVID-19 test results upon arrival in Kenya. Before boarding, airlines should ensure that all passengers have uploaded both documents to global haven via www.globalhaven.org.The operating crew is exempt from the COVID-19 test when on a layover between flights. They must follow COVID-19 protocols from the airport to the hotel/residence and back.


Locator Form 

All travellers will be required to complete the travellers’ locator form and submit it to https://ears.health.go.ke/airline_registration/ before departure and to submit daily health information to the “jitenge” platform for 14 consecutive days.

Quarantine details

Unless they test positive, U.S. citizens arriving from the U.S. are exempt from quarantine.All other travellers beginning or transiting through these countries will be required to undergo a free arrival rapid antigen test at the point of entry.


Covid Test at Airport

All passengers who exhibit flu-like symptoms at the point of entry or develop the symptoms within 14 days of arrival must be quarantined and tested for COVID19 at a government testing facility.

Anyone who tests positive on an antigen RDT at any point of entry will be isolated for ten days at the expense of the traveller at a Ministry of Health designated facility or home for returning Kenyans and residents. They will also be subjected to a COVID-19 PCR test before being released.

Travel restrictions

All U.S. visitors who have been in Kenya can travel back to the U.S.

With certain exceptions, the Presidential Proclamation prohibits noncitizens from entering the United States as immigrants or nonimmigrants if they were physically present in one of the countries within the 14 days before they enter the U.S.


Mandatory Covid test

All international airline passengers ages two years and older flying to the United States, regardless of vaccination status or citizenship, must present a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within one calendar day of travel. Alternatively, travellers to the U.S. may provide a certificate from a licenced health care provider that they have recovered from COVID within the previous 90 days.


Vaccine Certificate

If you are a non-U.S. citizen who is travelling to the United States as a nonimmigrant (not a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident, or on an immigrant visa), you must show proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before flying to the United States from another country.

Mandatory Quarantine and Testing

All Travelers:

  • 3–5 days after your trip, get a COVID-19 viral test.
  • Self-monitor for any COVID-19 virus symptoms; isolate and test if symptoms appear.
  • After your trip, make sure to follow all state and local recommendations or requirements.

Not  Fully Vaccinated:

In addition to the recommendations mentioned above, not fully vaccinated travellers should follow,

  • Stay at home and self-quarantine for a full seven days after returning from your trip, even if you test negative after 3–5 days.
  • If you are not tested for COVID, you should return home and self-quarantine for ten days after your trip.
