Except for health staff, flight attendants, military personnel, or anyone with a specially written exemption from the Emergency Dispatcher, Papua New Guinea has limited the entry of all passengers.
For an exemption, including the reasons for a stay, foreign tourists can apply by contacting: covid19-admin.logistics@police.gov.pg. To be allowed to board a flight, anyone arriving must have been screened for COVID-19 within a 7-day period from their date of arrival. Upon arrival, travelers are expected to self-isolate for 14 days in a government-approved hotel. To buy a flight ticket, travelers will be asked to show proof of their hotel reservation and an authorized exemption.
Travelers are currently only permitted to reach Papua New Guinea by air from Brisbane or Cairns via Port Moresby. Travelers are advised to review the new Australian transit specifications.
Further information on the steps in place for international travel can be found on the official COVID-19 website of the PNG government.
