Russia has started to remove some limits on some countries’ international flights. International travelers must have a medical certificate given within 72 hours before arrival with a negative Coronavirus (COVID-19) PCR test result.

All non-Russian travelers, permanent residents, residents with residence permits, airline crew members, ambassadors, members of Russia-based international organizations, and travelers whose visit concerns the death of a direct relative are restricted to entry into Russia.

The Russian government allows foreigners to enter Russia for medical care or to look after relatives. Travelers with a close family friend who is a Russian citizen may enter the country but need to provide supporting documentation for their relationship If they do not enter the country, travelers can transit through Russian airports.

Nationals and citizens of the United Kingdom, Egypt, Kazakhstan, South Korea, Kyrgyzstan (not flying on SU1883 and SU1895 flights), Maldives, Switzerland, Tanzania, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates entering directly from their country and not via a third-party country are allowed to enter Russia on the basis of a valid visa, proof of their nationality or residency and other entry requirements.

The press and honored guests competing in the Formula 1 FIA race in Sochi are qualified to join the country by 31 October.

International travelers must have a medical certificate given within 72 hours before arrival with a negative Coronavirus (COVID-19) PCR test result. Issuing a medical certificate is sufficient in Russian or in English. A translation into Russian, notarized, is approved.

Travelers entering Russia for permanent work purposes are subject to a 14-day self-isolation upon arrival, including Highly Qualified Specialist (HQS) visa holders. If they arrive on a regularly scheduled flight, all other arrivals are not allowed to self-isolate, provided they can display a negative test certificate.

Travelers who do not have the above documentation will be allowed, at their own expense, to take a PCR test for COVID-19 within three days of arriving in Russia.

However, if travelers develop any COVID-19 symptoms and/or COVID-19 positive tests, they will have to self-isolate on a PCR test before they have recovered and tested negative for COVID-19.
