Sierra Leone flights have restarted. Travelers must present a medical certificate given within 72 hours before departure with a negative Coronavirus (COVID-19) PCR or Rapid test result and must present a travel authorization obtained prior to departure at www.travel.gov.sl. All passengers are expected to have both a COVID-19 PCR and an RDT test on arrival at Freetown Lungi International airport. Travelers would be able to leave the airport and travel if the RDT test is negative when waiting no longer than 48 hours for the PCR test result.
Travelers who have a positive RDT test are subjected to isolation at their own cost at a hotel in Lungi while waiting for the PCR test result. The PCR outcome supersedes the outcome of the RDT. If the PCR test results are positive, you will be contacted by the Sierra Leonean health authorities and taken to the state treatment center. Travelers sitting next to a positive flight case will be viewed as a primary touch and will have to self-isolate before a negative PCR COVID-19 test is provided. Social distancing and the use of the face mask are compulsory at Freetown Lungi International Airport.
