How do I know Lufthansa Baggage Policy?

Carry-on Allowance:

Two carry-ons are allowed for business & first-class passengers, whereas one carry-on is allowed for the economy and premium class. Personal items do not include our outer garments and assistive devices. Each of our carry-on baggage must be placed underneath the seat in front of us or in the overhead bin. All these carry-on luggage needs to adhere to the following size and weight limits. The carry-on luggage’s maximum dimension is (22 x 16 x 9 in inches) or (55 x 40 x 23 in cm) length x width x height respectively. The carry-on luggage’s maximum weight is 18 pounds or 8 kilograms. 

N.B.: Underseat storing is unavailable at the time of take-off and landing.

Checked Baggage Allowance: 

a. Intercontinental Flights:

Free baggage allowance by Lufthansa on its intercontinental flights is one bag up to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms in an Economy Class, two bags up-to 50 pound or 23 kilograms each in a Premium Economy Class, two bags up-to 70 pounds or 32 kilograms each in a Business Class and three bags up-to 70 pounds or 32 kilograms each in a First Class.

On international flights, Free baggage allowance for status customers. 

We are allowed with one piece of carry-on baggage when traveling on Lufthansa’s Economy Light product. No free baggage allowance is inclusive of this fare, but still, they add one piece of the checked bag to our booking at a free of cost.

If we are a member of Lufthansa’s Frequent Traveler, we can carry two bags up-to 50 pounds or 23 Kilograms each in an Economy Class, two bags up-to 50 pounds or 23 Kilograms each in a Premium Economy Class, two bags up-to 70 pounds or 32 Kilograms each in a Business Class and three bags up-to 70 pounds or 32 Kilograms each in a First Class.

If we are a HON Circle Member or Senator or Star Alliance Gold member, we are allowed to carry two bags up-to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms each in an Economy Class, three bags up-to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms each in a Premium Economy Class, three bags up-to 70 pounds or 32 kilograms each in a Business Class, four bags up-to 70 pounds or 32 Kilograms each in a First Class. In addition to this, despite the class we travel, one golf bag can be carried additionally.

b. European Flights:

One piece of carry-on baggage maximum of 8 Kilograms are allowed in Economy Light, One piece of carry-on baggage maximum of 8 Kilograms along with a bag maximum of 23 Kilograms are allowed in an Economy Classic / Flex, Two pieces of carry-on baggage up to 8 Kilograms along with two bags maximum of 32 Kilograms are allowed in a Business Class.

If we are a frequent traveler of Lufthansa in a European flight, we are allowed with carry-on baggage alone in an Economy Class Light, two bags to the maximum of 50 lb or 23 Kilograms in an Economy Class Classic, two bags to the maximum of 50 lb or 23 Kilograms in an Economy Class Flex and two bags up to 70 lb or 32 kilograms.

Dimensions of Free Baggage:

Despite the class we travel, 158 centimeters (width + height + depth) is the maximum size for a piece of baggage. Excess baggage at the flat fee chargeable for baggage that is heavier or larger than the allowed weight and dimensions, and that is in addition to the free baggage allowance. Items weighing more than 32 Kilograms are transported via air freight, and it is chargeable.

In addition to these, Lufthansa permits a baby basket or a pushchair in a free transport. With these free baggage allowance, Lufthansa allows disabled passengers free transport of two wheelchairs or other mobility aids.
