Introduction

Economic relations between the US and Vietnam are also expected to broaden with the introduction of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP), and changes have already been made to ease the visa process for US citizens. A recent Vietnamese Immigration Department statement is mentioning a few changes about the Vietnamese citizens’ visa from the US. Visitors from the U.S. who want to visit Vietnam will now be given a Vietnam visa valid for 30 days after arrival. This visa comes with many entries. The price of the visa is USD 25.00 per person and is due upon entry. Vietnam introduced the eVisa program in February 2017 to streamline the process of entering the country. Travelers had to obtain a letter of approval from Vietnam before and request a visa upon arrival. Citizens of 46 countries can now apply electronically and get their eVisa online. The mechanism is online at 100 percent – no more trips to the embassy. It should be submitted to the immigration officer when boarding your flight upon arrival along with a Medical Declaration that is now required for all passengers, including the same Vietnamese people who are returning from another country to Vietnam.
