IMMIGRATION AND VISAS

Passport Requirements

All travelers except the following require passports:  

1. Travellers with an «Laissez-Passer» issued by the United Nations.

2. Travellers with «Kinderausweis» a German identity document issued to children, on condition that such document contains a photo of the child.

3. Travellers with refugee travel papers issued by countries that signed the Conventions of 1946 and 1951.

4. Travellers with travel documents issued by the United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo to Kosovo’s permanent residents.

Document Validity based on Armenia Visa Policy

Passports and alternative papers, or either of them, must be valid for the intended visit period.

a. Citizens of Armenia can enter with expired passports without limits.

b. People residing in Armenia can enter with travel documents that are valid on arrival.

Visa Issuance

1. Before arrival: Tourists are kindly requested to reach Armenia’s closest representation.

2. Upon arrival: a visa can be obtained if necessary at Yerevan Zvartnots Airport to travelers with enough money. However, travelers had better obtain a visa before arrival for a touristic visit of no more than 120 days.

Fees: AMD 15.000 (about USD 50) that should be paid in local currency only. At the airport, there will be currency exchange facilities available. To arrange extensions, please visit the city registration office.

N.B.

– Item no. 2 does not apply to citizens of Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Cameroon, India, Iraq, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Niger, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Sudan, and Syria.

– Neither does it apply to citizens of the People’s Republic of China except for those having passports issued by either Hong Kong (A Special Administrative Region of China) or Macao (A Special Administrative Region of China).

– Neither does it apply to travelers with Palestinian documents.

Visa Exemptions

All travelers must hold a visa except the following:

1. Armenian Citizens.

2. Travellers with diplomatic or service passports provided they are citizens of the People’s Republic of China, Brazil, Cyprus, Croatia, Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia, Iran, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Mexico, or Turkmenistan.

3. Citizens of Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Republic of Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine.

4. Travellers with proof of residence in Armenia issued by Armenia.

5. Citizens of the Republic of Montenegro provided they hold a letter of invitation.

6. Travellers with official or diplomatic passports provided they are citizens of Argentina or Uruguay.

7. Travellers with diplomatic passports provided they are citizens of Bulgaria, India, and Poland.

8. Citizens of the Republic of Serbia with diplomatic or service passports, provided they have a letter of invitation.

TWOV (Transit Without Visa)

TWOV is permissible for travelers continuing their trip within 72 hours on condition that:

– They stay in the transit lounge at the airport.

– They hold all documents needed for their next trip and confirmed onward tickets.

N.B.

Yerevan Zvartnots Airport does not provide any hotel accommodation within the transit area.

Warnings

Travelers who do not comply with entry conditions will be deported, and the airline will be fined.

CUSTOMS AND FOREIGN EXCHANGE

Import regulations

1. Travellers are allowed free import of:

a. Six items of perfumery products, up to five liters maximum.

b. Personal commodities with a total value of USD 10,000 weighing 50 kilograms (for both residents and non-residents).

c. Two liters of alcohol.

d. 200 cigarettes.

* Travellers must keep the customs declaration completed on arrival.

2. It is prohibited to import pornographic materials, narcotics, vegetables, and fruits without the necessary papers.

Export regulations

The export of pornographic materials, narcotics, vegetables, and fruits is prohibited without the necessary papers.

Pets

A vaccination certificate must support pets from a veterinarian. Animals must be vaccinated against rabies within six months and twenty days before entry.

Baggage Clearance regulations

The luggage of a passenger at the first airport of entry should be cleared.

Airport tax

Upon boarding at the airport, no airport duty is payable on travelers.

Currency Import regulations

There are no restrictions on importing local currency (AMD-Armenian Dram) and foreign currencies. However, travelers must declare any cash sums exceeding USD 10,000 or its equivalent. Passengers arriving from the Eurasian Customs Union (Kazakhstan, Russian Fed., Belarus) are exempt from cash import declarations.

Currency Export regulations

There are no restrictions on exporting local currency (AMD-Armenian Dram) and foreign currencies up to USD 10,000 or its equivalent.

* Warning:

Sums higher than USD 10,000 have to be transferred through a bank. Passengers departing to the Eurasian Customs Union (Kazakhstan, Russian Fed., Belarus) are exempt from cash import declarations.

Additional Information on regulations

Pieces of art must be supported by an export document from the Agency for the Preservation of Cultural Heritage and hold a photo for each work.

Arms and Ammunition regulations

Passengers may import ammunition and firearms if they have obtained a license, permit, or pre-advice via the www.police.am website.
