Australia Travel Restrictions for the USA

What do you need to do before you travel to Australia?

Travel Ban

Fully vaccinated Australian permanent residents, Australian nationals, and Australian visa holders can now travel to and from Australia.

COVID-19 Vaccination Proof

When you check in for your Australia flight, you will be required to show proof of your vaccination status.

If vaccinated in Australia: You need to show your ICVC or International COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate to airline personnel. The ICVC will be given in PDF format, which you can print or save to your phone.

If vaccinated outside of Australia: You must present a foreign vaccination certificate to airline personnel that meets all the requirements on the Australian Passport Office website.

Mandatory Pre-departure Covid-19 Test

Travelling to Australia requires a negative Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test result. When you check-in, you must show proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test performed within three days of your flight’s scheduled departure.

Even if your flight to Australia is delayed, you will be regarded as having completed the pre-departure testing. There will be no need for a new test.

If your flight is rescheduled or cancelled, you must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test performed within three days before the rescheduled flight.

Australia Travel Declaration (ATD)

Completing an Australia Travel Declaration or ATD at least 72 hours before departure is required. The ATD requests information that is deemed critical to one’s health. Before boarding the aircraft, you must be able to provide proof that the critical information was completed.

Things to do in Australia while arriving

Mandatory Quarantine

You must undertake fourteen (14) days of compulsory quarantine in the first place of arrival in Australia if you have a negative PCR certificate or you are fully vaccinated.

It is mandatory for all travellers because it reduces the risk of the spread of COVID. It is an unusual experience for most people. Please visit the official link of the Australian government, and it will help you know the updated details of quarantine.

Wearing mask

All travellers must be wearing a mask on arrival in Australian airports.

You should use your masks and carry enough masks for the period of your journey. A surgical mask or cloth mask is acceptable.
