Australia Visa (ETA) is valid for 365 days from the day of electronic approval. ETA holders may enter Australia multiple times, with stays of up to 90 days

Stay limit in Australia on an e-Visa

It’s important to note that although your Australia ETA Visa may be valid for 365 days, you can’t stay in Australia continuously for the whole time. The length of continuous stay should not be longer than 90 days.

Difference between Visa validity & duration of stay

Duration of Stay – is the maximum number of days travelers are permitted to stay in Australia. Australia visa will allow the Travel document/passport holders from all nationalities to apply for the Australia ETA. However, according to the most recent travel updates in Australia visa regulation, there’s no way for travelers to extend the period/duration of their Australia visa. This includes all foreign holders of e Visas. So the only option is to apply for a new Visa from the Australian embassy, or you can leave Australia, and obtain a new electronic visa, and re-enter Australia.

Can I convert my Australia visa to any other Visa?

No, an Australia visa is non-extendable and non-convertible.

I got a new passport, but my ETA is in my old Passport, and is still valid. How can I proceed now?

You may be allowed entry into Australia on the new Passport even if an Australia visa has been issued on the old travel document/Passport with the condition that you must carry the new Passport/travel document and old Passport on which e visa was issued.
